Solar Savings Calculator
Get an instant estimate of what solar panels could save you. Based on real Northern Ireland energy data, your property type, and electricity spend.
How this calculator works
Select your monthly electricity spend, property type, and whether you are considering battery storage. The calculator estimates your recommended system size, costs, and annual savings using Northern Ireland solar irradiance data and current electricity rates.

How we calculate your estimate
Our calculator uses real Northern Ireland solar generation data. Each kilowatt-peak (kWp) of solar capacity generates approximately 950 kWh per year in NI, based on average irradiance levels across the region.
Savings are calculated using the current average electricity rate of 29p/kWh and an export rate of 5p/kWh for surplus energy sent to the grid. Without battery storage, a typical household self-consumes around 45% of the energy their panels generate. With a battery, that figure rises to around 75%.
System size recommendations are based on your property type and electricity spend. Terraced houses typically suit 3-4kW systems, semi-detached homes 4kW, detached homes 5-6kW, and bungalows 3-5kW depending on usage.
