Daily solar generation in NI

Solar generation reports for Northern Ireland

Each day we publish an estimate of how much electricity a typical 4kW and 6kW solar install would generate in towns across Northern Ireland, based on local weather data.

How these numbers are made

Each morning the tracker takes the day's solar radiation, sunshine hours and cloud cover for seven Northern Ireland towns from Open-Meteo, then models what a south-facing 4kW and 6kW system would produce at a performance ratio of 0.78. Savings are valued at 33.5p per kWh, the tracker's fixed assumption, so they read as an upper bound on a 27 to 31p tariff. Today's figure is a forecast until the day is over; earlier days are measured. Nobody else publishes NI-specific domestic generation figures, so the data is published in full for anyone to check or cite.
